New Designs!

I am so excited about the new designs on Lydia & Pugs! These are the first personalized designs I have posted on my shop and they are just so precious and very sophisticated.

The new design features a girl silhouette walking her pug dog on a leash. The cards come in sets of 10 and are personalized in your choice of font with your name in the bottom left hand corner. You can then choose between 6 different colors for the girl's dress and for the matching rhinestone bow for her pug. And you also choose the font type for your name.

The cards also come with matching round sticker seals for the envelopes. The seal has pink polka-dots with the pug silhouette and also personalized with your name. Finally, these note cards of course come wrapped with a gorgeous matching satin ribbon, they perfect for any dog-lover, and make a great gift! By far, one of my favorites yet!

Doggy Saturday

I hope you all are having a relaxing or productive Saturday, depending on what your doing. I found this picture, and thought it was hilarious and kinda felt sad for the old pooch, so I had to share it. This boy is coloring on his dog! Unfortunately, the dog is not a dry-erase board!

Good thing Hera {my pug} isn't white! :-)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Foodie Friday

I found the perfect cupcake kit, that is so adorable and cute. I am a huge fan of anything colorful, and cupcakes are one of my favorite desserts, especially if they are sprinkled with sprinkles! Yum!

Bake your favorite cupcakes in style with this cupcake apron from Hand Maiden's Cottage. The apron can even be personalized! Love it!

And what's an apron and a book with a cupcake recipe? These delightful Cream-Filled Chocolate Cupcakes from Martha Stewart look delish!

Ingredients

Makes 12

Prep: 30 minutes
Total: 1 hour 45 minutes

  • FOR THE CUPCAKES
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature, plus more for muffin tins
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for muffin tins
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream, room temperature
  • FOR THE FILLING
  • 1 1/2 cups marshmallow creme (7.5-ounce jar)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Butter two 6-cup (each with a 1-cup capacity) jumbo muffin pans; dust with cocoa powder to coat, tapping out excess. In a medium bowl, whisk together cocoa, flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.
  2. Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. On low speed, add half the flour mixture, followed by sour cream, ending with remaining flour mixture; mix just until incorporated (do not overmix).
  3. Divide batter among prepared muffin cups. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of a cupcake comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes, rotating pans halfway through baking. Cool in pans, 5 minutes; remove cupcakes and cool, right side up, on a wire rack.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare filling: In a medium bowl, whisk marshmallow creme and butter until smooth. Chill until slightly firm, 15 to 30 minutes. Transfer mixture to a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag, and seal; cut off one corner of the bag to make a 1/8-inch opening.
  5. Using a small melon baller, scoop out center of each cupcake from the bottom, and reserve (you will use this to plug cupcake after filling). Hollow out each cupcake a bit more, discarding crumbs. Insert tip of plastic bag into each cavity, and squeeze to fill; replace plugs. Using remaining filling in plastic bag, decorate top of cupcakes.
Do you have a favorite dessert recipe? I'd love to try it out and put feature it on "Foodie Friday." Just email me... {LydiaAndPugs@gmail.com}.

By the way, Happy Friday everyone!

Word Art

Create your own Wordle Art! I thought this was a really cool idea for all you typography people out there. I just plugged in my blog URL: lydiaandpugs.blogspot.com. And the site generates
“word clouds” from text that you provide. The greater prominence of specific words appear more frequently in the source text. You can even change the fonts, layouts, and color schemes.

I even created 2 wordles because it was so much fun! After your done you can print them and hang for display. Enjoy!

Wednesday Dog Treats

Wednesday is now being dedicated to "Wednesday Dog Treats" {Dog & Pug Style}. It will be official the dog-lovers guide to all dog goodies pretty and cute for your pooch.

I will also occasionally throw in some human related items as well, we can't forgot ourselves!

For a closer look click on the collage.

{1} This leash is as sophisticated as my favorite belt, but now you can use it on your dogs. The Leather leash runs for $48. And you can find it at Colehaan.

{2} Looks like a regular bag I'd carry. Rattan and leather "Fiona"$180 at Kwigy-bo for stores.

{3} This graphic pattern recalls fabric on chairs in Florence's Bargello Palace."Barkgello" collar $32 at Elladish.

{4} This absolutely adorable dog gift wrap!, very preppy, cute and even versatile, is from Whimsy Press. The wrap comes in Fetching Spaniel, Mutt Wagger, Golden Giver and Wiener Dog. There was so sign of a Pug wrap...yet! I'll have to put in a request. The best part is, the wrapping paper is reversible. And the wrap is $4.50 per sheet.
Enjoy!

Preppy Pugs

Some of my pug and dog stationery creations use Amy Bulter's patterns for envelopes and cards. I love her fabrics and paper. She has such a clean and fresh feel to all her designs, with great colors that are always cute and trendy.

Below are 2 pug cards I designed, located on Lydia & Pugs. The first one is a pink, green and blue damask print for the card with a matching envelope. The card below is a lime green damask with matching envelope, also has a coordinating pink ribbon, very preppy!

And for all you craftly people, I was so excited to find that she offered some free patterns on her website that you can print off from your own computer. The projects include a business card holder, quilting patterns and more.

Enjoy and thanks Amy for spreading some free crafting love!

Pet-Proof Your Plants

I recently subscribed to my soon-to-be favorite magazine, Domino, and to my sad dismay Domino is ending their magazine for good. I was shocked to believe that such a great 'how to' and DIY {do it yourself} type of magazine is closing it's doors, but I guess it's desperate times these days... March 2009 will be their last issue.
Anyhow, I read an article from Domino Magazine about ways to keep you pets away from you prized garden of flowers or plants. I thought this was good, especially since spring is here and everything is starting to bloom!

Here are some gardening tips to keep your pets and {pugs} out of your plants.

1. Choose plants that aren't toxic to your pet: Ferns, members of the ficus family, and spider plants (Chlorophytum comosum) make safer indoor plants than do philodendron, dumbcane, or any of the ivies. For a more complete list of poisonous plants, visit The Humane Society website.

2. Give your pet something else to gnaw on: Have plenty of chew toys around for your pup, and provide your cat with a pot of kitty grass.

3. Put your indoor plants out of reach: For dogs, you can usually just put them on a high surface. With cats it's a little trickier, but hanging baskets usually work. You can also try a terrarium.

4.Keep your pets well exercised: After a good romp in the park or an afternoon of stalking the felt mouse, most dogs and cats are ready to sleep, not cause mischief.

5. Cover the soil in your pots with pebbles: the bigger and more jagged the better. Cats hate the bumpiness under paw.

6. To keep dogs from digging in garden beds: plant something spiky around the edge—an agave, a yucca, a pyracantha.

Glam Up Your Pup

Let me just say... as most of you already know, I am a preppy kind of girl. I like the pinks and the greens, the teals and the browns, the scripted letters, etc.

But, when I came across these "diamond necklaces" for dogs, I had to laugh. Not only are they cute and adorable, like pugs, but they are DIY {Do It Yourself}!

If you go to Martha Stewart's page, they are located there, just click here: Dog necklaces, for the link.

By far one of the cutest things for you pup! I think Hera would look fabulous in it!

Welcome!

Hello fellow dog lovers and puggy lovers!

Welcome to Lydia & Pugs! Lydia & Pugs is a dog stationery shop on Etsy. My shop is http://www.lydiaandpugs.etsy.com/.

My stationery consists of bright, cheery, summer-like colors! I absolutely love color and I feel each color should be filled with some sunshine! I am so excited to finally put my creations out their and share them with fellow pug friends! I have put a lot of time, effort, and detail into creating each card and envelope I make.
Lydia & Pugs is named after my adopted pug, who passed away from a heart attack last fall in 2008. Our family has since adopted another pug named Hera, through the Central Florida Pug Rescue, she is so much different than Lydia. But Lydia will always be in our hearts forever, there is no pug quite like her.

Feel free to look around my shop Lydia & Pugs, and follow my blog. I will be posting new stationery, ideas, and all my creations on here.

I hope you enjoy my note cards, stationery, and other paper goodies!
